Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using Discbound, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not register or use the service.

2. Age requirement

You must be at least 16 years old to register. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement. We do not knowingly provide accounts to users under 16. If we become aware that a user is under 16, we will close that account.

3. What Discbound is

Discbound is a personal media collection management tool. It lets you catalogue your DVD, Blu-ray, and other media holdings. We may introduce additional features over time, including social or community features. It does not currently facilitate sales or trades between users and does not host or distribute the copyrighted video content of the media you catalogue — only information and metadata about physical media you own.

4. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

5. Your account and collection data

You retain ownership of the profile and collection data you enter about your own holdings, such as which titles you own, where they're stored, and any personal notes. We store this data solely to provide the service to you and do not sell or share it with third parties, including advertising or analytics providers. You may delete your account and its associated data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on how we collect, use, and protect this information.

6. Contributed data about recordings

Discbound may, now or in the future, allow users to contribute or correct factual information about recordings themselves — such as disc contents, credits, or technical specifications — that is not specific to your personal collection and is intended to improve the shared catalogue for all users. Information you contribute in this way is not treated as your personal data. By submitting it, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, adapt, and incorporate it into the service, and it becomes part of the shared catalogue without any obligation of attribution to you. You represent that you have the right to contribute the information you submit and that doing so does not infringe anyone else's rights.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service
  • Use automated or systematic means (including scraping, crawling, bots, or scripts) to access, copy, or extract data from the service, regardless of whether doing so affects the service's operation, except as expressly permitted by our robots.txt or with our prior written consent

8. Advertising

The service may display advertisements served by third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense. These networks may use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to serve ads based on your interests. We do not control the content of third-party ads and do not endorse the products or services they advertise. See our Privacy Policy for information about the cookies these networks use and how to opt out of interest-based advertising.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information, including our use of cookies and third-party services such as analytics and advertising providers. It is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review it before using the service.

10. Service availability and discontinuation

We intend to operate Discbound for the long term, but we do not guarantee the service will be available indefinitely. If we decide to discontinue the service, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users in advance and to give you a reasonable opportunity to export your collection data before shutdown. Beyond this, we are not liable for any loss of data or access resulting from discontinuation of the service.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that have been inactive for an extended period, with reasonable notice where practical.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that the service will be error-free.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

14. Copyright

The Discbound service, including its software, design, and original catalogue text, is Copyright © 2026 Diotima, LLC. All rights reserved. Cover art, box art, and other product images displayed on the service are used for identification and informational purposes only and remain the property of their respective copyright holders (such as studios, distributors, and labels). Diotima, LLC asserts no copyright over these images. If you are a rights holder and have a concern about an image displayed on the service, contact us at hello@discbound.net.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date above. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
